SCENE #3 "ON THE STATION PLATFORM, CONT."

CELL: GOKUMA STATION SCENE: Hoping to ride the next train back home, the Man investigates the inbound train schedule. This scene is triggered as soon as the player INSPECTs the schedule board facing away from the train. It should be noted that there is a digital clock attached to the board that reads "23:59". Man (Looks like this is the inbound schedule. Let's see here...) Man (...The last inbound train of the night left not even 10 minutes ago. When the Hell did it become midnight, anyway...?) The Man sighs and begins to fumble around in his pocket. Man (I guess I'll need to call a cab. Where's my phone...) The player briefly regains control of the Man on the overworld, however they are unable to move. A prompt appears on-screen instructing them to access their inventory via the "Y" button. PLAYER ACTION: The player opens the inventory as instructed and selects the first item, "CELLPHONE", then selects "CAB SERVICE" from its sub-menu. The Man produces a flip phone from his pocket and flips it open. He visibly attempts to use it for a moment before continuing. Man (...You cannot be serious. No reception, at a time like this? Useless device...) The Man returns the flip phone to his pocket, and crosses his arms. Man Damn it all. There is a moment's pause. Man (I curse audibly in anger, but only the howling wind of the station platform makes an effort to placate my frustration.) Man (I've a meeting with the regional manager bright and early tomorrow morning. This isn't the time to be faffing about in the boondocks.) Man (But I suppose that acknowledgement in itself won't do much to solve my predicament.) Man (It looks like a payphone is my only option. Even a place like this should have one, right...?) The camera pans to centre itself on the stairway near the platform's edge, before returning to the Man. Man (...I guess I have no choice but to head down the stairs and look for one nearby. Hopefully that, at least, will be a mercifully short exercise.) Man (What a pitiful string of events. This just isn't my day...)
